Student Organization Constitutional Amendments and Name Change Requests

In accordance with TCUJ Bylaw 2.2.a, no TCU-recognized student organization constitution may be amended without a majority vote of approval from the TCUJ. This includes organization name changes. Thus, we require all groups who want to amend their constitution or change their name abide by the following procedure:

  1. Draft and vote on the desired constitutional amendment(s) or name change, following the rules outlined in your organization’s current constitution. This usually involves a simple majority or 2/3 vote by your group’s executive board and/or voting club members.

  2. Once each amendment or a new name has been approved by your organization in accordance with your group’s constitution, a representative shall complete this form.

  3. The TCUJ shall discuss and vote on the proposed amendment(s) or name change request. Once a decision has been reached, the representative serving as the point of contact will be informed and TCUJ records will be amended accordingly.
